Join Lookout Housing and Health Society as a full time Cook in Courtenay, BC. You'll prepare daily meals and ensure a clean kitchen workplace for our community members.
In this permanent position, the Cook reports to the Site Manager and is responsible for cooking and serving meals while adhering to Lookout’s mission. Key skills include managing cleanliness, overseeing kitchen volunteers, and preparing menus. The role includes compliance with health and safety standards and working with disadvantaged adults in a supportive atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare, cook, and serve daily meals and snacks
• Ensure food availability for guests post-hours
• Maintain cleanliness in kitchen and dining areas
• Oversee and collaborate with kitchen volunteers




• Organize supplies and adhere to health protocols
Requirements:
• Cooking Diploma with 2 years related experience
• Current Occupational First Aid Level 1 and FOODSAFE Certificate
• Experience in menu planning and supply order development
• Ability to work independently and on a team
• Explicit communication skills and crisis intervention training preferred
