Embark on a valuable academic journey with the City of Maple Ridge through their urban forestry student placement starting Fall 2026. This unpaid position offers hands-on experience in urban forestry initiatives that perk the community. Designed for students enrolled in UBC's Master of Urban Forestry Leadership, this externship includes approximately 26 full working days.
You will assist in vital urban forestry projects, enhancing your skills and understanding of local ecological initiatives while contributing positively to the city’s environmental plans. Key Responsibilities:
Research the framework for a City tree policy
Explore grant submissions and funding opportunities
Analyze nursery stock trends for local species
Help identify key planting areas for urban projects
Develop educational stewardship plans for events Requirements:
Enrollment in UBC's Master of Urban Forestry Leadership
Excellent written and verbal communication
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams
Basic urban forestry knowledge and eagerness to learn
