Lotus Group is proud to partner with a highly reputable and well-established public accounting firm in the Okotoks, Alberta seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join their professional team.
The individual will play a pivotal role in leading the preparation of financial statements, compilation engagements, review engagements, and corporate and personal tax returns. This position requires strong technical expertise, sound skilled judgment, and a proactive approach to client management. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy, compliance, and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and perform full-cycle accounting functions, including the compilation and analysis of financial data, preparation of journal entries, and maintenance of general ledger accounts.
- Preparation of year-end financial statements, including Compilation engagements and Review engagements and supporting working papers.
- Draft, analyze, and finalize management financial statements and related notes with attention to accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare corporate (T2), personal (T1), GST, T4, and T5 returns, ensuring adherence to all federal and provincial tax regulations.
- Manage client engagements by coordinating documentation, reviewing trial balances, and preparing confirmations, engagement letters, and other supporting materials.
- Conduct detailed account reconciliations and ensure proper maintenance of sub-ledgers and control accounts.
- Support and provide guidance in tax planning initiatives and resolve complex tax issues in collaboration with managers and partners.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships by providing timely, professional communication and strategic financial insights.
- Ensure the confidentiality, accuracy, and integrity of all client data and financial information.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by managers or partners.
Key Requirements:
- 3+ years of progressive experience in public accounting, with exposure to a variety of client industries.
- Must have experience preparing and reviewing compilation and review engagement files.
- CPA designation would be an asset, however equivalent experience and qualifications will be considered.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and tax compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, CaseWare, and other accounting software systems.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engagements, prioritize deliverables, and meet deadlines with accuracy and efficiency.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- A proactive, self-motivated professional with sound judgment and a commitment to continuous learning and client service excellence.
