Volunteer Opportunity: Basketball / Soccer Coach

Volunteer Youth Soccer & Basketball Coaches Needed

1–2 hours per week | Flexible scheduling | Ages 4–15

The Canadian Christian Recreational Association (CCRA) is seeking volunteer youth soccer and basketball coaches to help support our FREE youth recreation programs for children and youth ages 4–15.

This is a great opportunity for individuals 16 years of age and older who enjoy sports, working with children, and helping young people build confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills.

Flexible Commitment

Only 1–2 hours per week is required for coaching.

You do not need to be available for all of the times listed below. Volunteers only need to commit to one 1–2 hour block per week that works with their schedule.

Available coaching windows: Sessions begins the week of October 5, ends December 19, 2026

- Flexible weekday evenings between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM
- Saturday mornings between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM
- Program locations: Brampton, Mississauga, Etobicoke, Toronto

The times listed are open and flexible, and we will work with volunteers to determine a consistent schedule that fits their availability. Soccer or Basketball Experience Required

Volunteers should have experience or a strong background in soccer and/or basketball.

You do not need experience in both sports.

You can choose to volunteer for:

- Soccer only
- Basketball only
- Both soccer and basketball

About the Canadian Christian Recreational Association (CCRA) The Canadian Christian Recreational Association (CCRA) is a faith-based organization dedicated to building community through sports, recreation, mentorship, leadership development, and spiritual growth.

Volunteer Opportunity Overview

CCRA is currently seeking volunteer soccer and basketball coaches, former athletes, experienced players, coaches, and sports-minded volunteers to support our youth programs.





Coaches will help children and youth develop fundamental sports skills while creating a positive setting focused on teamwork, confidence, sportsmanship, leadership, and personal growth.

Depending on your sport and experience, coaching may include:

Soccer Coaching:

Volunteers may help participants develop:

- Dribbling and ball-control skills
- Passing and receiving
- Shooting and finishing
- Footwork and coordination
- Defensive fundamentals
- Positioning and game awareness
- Teamwork and communication
- Basic rules and gameplay
- Confidence and sportsmanship

Basketball Coaching Volunteers may help participants develop:

- Dribbling and ball handling
- Passing and catching
- Shooting fundamentals
- Layups and finishing
- Footwork and coordination
- Defensive fundamentals
- Rebounding
- Teamwork and communication
- Basic rules and gameplay
- Confidence and sportsmanship

Organizing Drills & Games Coaches will help organize age-appropriate drills, skill stations, team activities, and small-sided games or scrimmages that allow participants to practice the skills they are learning.

Coaches should help ensure that activities are safe, organized, inclusive, encouraging, and fun.

Youth Mentorship & Leadership

Our coaches play an important role beyond teaching sports.

Volunteers are encouraged to be positive role models who help participants develop confidence, discipline, teamwork, respect, leadership, and a strong sense of community.

Coaches should model good sportsmanship, patience, integrity, encouragement, and respect both on and off the court or field.

Faith-Based Environment

CCRA programs are rooted in our Christian faith and mission.

Volunteers should be comfortable supporting a positive, faith-centered environment and participating in brief prayer before and/or after program sessions.

Our goal is to create an environment where children and youth feel welcomed, valued, encouraged, and supported.

What We're Looking For

Ideal volunteers will be

- 16 years of age or older
- Experienced in soccer and/or basketball
- Positive, dependable, and encouraging
- Comfortable working with children and youth




- Patient and willing to teach
- Team-oriented
- Strong communicators
- Interested in youth mentorship and community recreation
- Willing to support the faith-based mission of CCRA

You do not need to be experienced in both sports. Volunteers may choose to coach soccer, basketball, or both based on their experience and interests. Formal coaching experience is helpful but not required. Former athletes, current players, students, parents, teachers, church members, and community volunteers are all encouraged to apply.
