Victim Services of Durham Region seeks an experienced Crisis Intervention and Cultural Support Counsellor. You will provide immediate support through phone and in-person interventions, ensuring respect for clients' cultural backgrounds and experiences. Strong knowledge of Indigenous culture, trauma-informed care, and crisis intervention are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide case management and needs assessment support • Offer emotional support through active listening • Collaborate with community partners for client referrals • Maintain strong relationships with community groups • Manage confidential client documentation and statistical reports
Requirements: • Minimum 3 years’ experience with youth in crisis • Degree in Social Work or related field • Knowledge of Indigenous history and culture • Strong communication and organizational skills • Familiarity with community resources in Durham Region
