MAIN FUNCTIONS The Spanish & Portuguese Program Coordinator is responsible for running the day-to-day language programs, supporting clients, recruiting and supervising volunteers, growing community partnerships, and ensuring high-quality mental health and emotional support services for Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking communities.

Senior Manager, Program Management (OBLL) and Operational Innovation

COMPENSATION

$30–$35 per hour, plus 4% in lieu of vacation

HOURS

22.5 hours per week

CONTRACT

October 2026 - May 2027 (8 Months)

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Multilingual Programs (Inbound Language Line, TeleCheck, and Touching Base)

- Coordinates the Spanish and Portuguese program, as directed by the organization’s strategic and operational plans
- Provides case management and advocacy, including client registration, intake, and discharge
- Corresponds with and responds to inquiries from clients, family members, community partners, funders, and the general public, as required
- Makes and receives calls daily as required, including medication reminders, check-ins, and social calls
- Participates in program initiatives as required

- Public Awareness and Education

- Promotes DCGT programs and services in the community, including participation in events and fairs, presentations, and distribution of materials
- Participates in outreach activities appropriate to the Spanish and Portuguese community, in person, at minimum once per week

- Volunteer Resources

- Participates in the supervision and recognition of volunteers within a decentralized volunteer resources model, ensuring policies and procedures are followed and contributing to volunteer recognition, supervision, scheduling, evaluation, and screening




- Supervises interns and students as assigned, including students within English programs

- Reporting and Evaluation

- Ensures the iCarol and Better Impact databases are updated regularly and shares pertinent information with staff as appropriate
- Provides monthly reports and statistics to the Manager based on a negotiated reporting schema
- Evaluates programs and services and identifies areas for improvement

- Other Responsibilities

- Ensures DCGT policies and procedures are adhered to at all times
- Participates in funding applications as assigned
- Participates in organizational projects throughout the year as assigned, including the Annual General Meeting, volunteer recognition activities, special events, and fund development initiatives
- Communicates and relates to others in the workplace in a positive, open, honest, and respectful manner
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed

WORKING CONDITIONS The standard work week is Monday to Friday, with programming operating between 10:00 am and 10:00 pm. The Coordinator is frequently assigned changing priorities and may be required to work overtime, with the expectation that schedules will be flexed in lieu of additional compensation.





This role requires in-person work at the office located in South Mississauga as well as work in the GTA community one to two times per week, subject to change based on organizational needs.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS)
- Minimum two years of nonprofit experience
- Demonstrated passion for working with newcomers and immigrants
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of people, using a coaching leadership style and demonstrating motivation, team building, and conflict resolution skills
- Experience supporting individuals requiring psychological stabilization, crisis intervention, and suicide prevention support
- Demonstrated facilitation, training, public education, and outreach experience
- Experience with reporting, outcome measurement, and evaluation
- Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with community-based organizations
- Ability to participate appropriately in meetings, external events, and fundraising efforts
- Robust proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Spanish, and Portuguese
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Check
- Ability to travel within the GTA as required
