The Association of Independent Schools and Colleges in Alberta’s mandate is to promote and empower independent schools in Alberta. AISCA serves as the voice of independent schools and Early Childhood Services operators, representing over 200 members and more than 56,000 students.

The Associate Executive Director (Public Affairs & Government Relations) provides senior leadership for AISCA’s advocacy, government relations, media engagement, and external stakeholder work. This role reports to the Executive Director.

Key Focus Areas
Lead AISCA’s government relations, advocacy, and public affairs strategy
Serve as AISCA’s primary spokesperson with government, media, and external stakeholders
Build and maintain relationships with MLAs, Ministers, senior officials, and municipal leaders
Represent AISCA in consultations, advocacy forums, and sector partnerships
Oversee public communications, media relations, and issues management




Support and strengthen member advocacy efforts
Conduct external environmental scanning and advise the Executive Director on emerging risks and prospects
Is involved in strategic planning, staff leadership, and organizational risk management
Oversee the management and reporting of various grant related deliverables

Qualifications
Experience in government relations, advocacy, public affairs, or political strategy
Robust understanding of public policy and stakeholder engagement
Proven leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills
Experience in education or the not-for-profit sector is an asset
Location: Edmonton office
Start Date: Negotiable; when filled
FTE: Full-time
Salary: $125,000–$140,000, commensurate with experience and FTE
