Our Client, Home Trust is an organization that provides financial and investment services is seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to join their Structured Finance Accounting team for a 6 to 8 month contract . The role is in hybrid with in office 3 days a week located in downtown Toronto and work remote from home 2 days a week.
This role is ideal for a technical accounting qualified who enjoys working in a energetic workplace at the intersection of accounting, treasury, capital markets, and financial reporting.
As a key member of the team, you will serve as a subject matter expert in areas including derivatives, hedge accounting, securitization accounting, investor reporting, and IFRS financial reporting . You will collaborate closely with Treasury, Risk, IT, and Finance partners to ensure accurate, timely, and well-controlled financial reporting while contributing to process improvements and automation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Derivatives & Hedge Accounting
Maintain and update the monthly hedge register, ensuring all hedge relationships and derivative transactions are accurately reflected.
Perform hedge effectiveness testing and maintain supporting documentation in accordance with IFRS and internal control requirements.
Prepare monthly journal entries related to derivative activity, including accruals, settlements, fair value adjustments, and mark-to-market accounting.
Complete reconciliation, management reporting, regulatory reporting, and external reporting related to derivatives and hedge accounting.
Support the development and maintenance of hedge accounting strategies and related accounting policies.
Analyze the financial impact of hedging activities on net interest margin and overall business performance.
Research and interpret IFRS guidance related to financial instruments, derivatives, and hedging transactions.
Assist with financial statement disclosures related to derivatives, hedge accounting, securities, cash, and accumulated other comprehensive income (AOCI).
Support audit activities and maintain effective process documentation and controls.
Securitization Accounting & Reporting
Prepare and reconcile daily cash flow submissions and investor remittances for structured finance transactions.
