Position Overview
This is a newly created position that will be based out of our Milton manufacturing facility and will be responsible for development and maintenance of the Quality Management System.
The successful applicant for this prospect has knowledge of SQF and/or other GFSI, knowledge of HACCP ,
is a strong communicator, highly organized, and capable of working independently or in a team environment . This role will also include any ad-hoc activities required.
Please note that this position will require you to work on-site. There will be a requirement to provide coverage for Afternoon shift (12:00 – 8:00 p.m.) along with occasional support for the other shifts including Days, Nights and Weekends.
Responsibilities
Own site written Quality Management System ensuring local site Quality policies exist which are in line with Dare Corporate Policy, customer requirements and relevant GFSI schemes.
Drive continuous improvement and modernization of Quality tools and systems.
Develop and support execution of quality related education and training
Lead Food Safety Team meetings and keep site Food Safety Plans up to date.
Lead the site Internal Auditing program, launch testing of the traceability system and ensure the site CAPA program is functioning as intended
Oversee site Training program on quality standard and GMP practices
Assume a leadership role during GFSI and customer audits
Own raw and pack supplier approvals and risk assessments for the site
Organize and coordinate the activities of quality team around promoting food safety and quality culture and standards
Support any on floor Quality / Food Safety incident and complaint investigations
Back up and support for the Quality Manager position
Qualifications
College or Bachelor degree in Food Science Technology/Engineering or related field
3 – 5 years relevant working experience in a food manufacturing environment
Broad range of experience with Operational Systems and GMP Programs
Knowledge of confectionary processes is an asset
Strong knowledge of SQF or similar GFSI programs
SQF Practitioner Certification and PCQI certification are an asset
HACCP and Food Safety practical and theoretical knowledge
Strong technical writing skills, with experience developing Quality Programs
Knowledge of the principles of Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing would be considered an asset
A history of meeting and exceeding challenging performance goals; a desire to “win”
Ability to perform tasks effectively both individually and as a member of a team
Ability to multi-task
Strong skills in Word, Excel to manage and analyze quality data
