As the most northerly township in the County of Simcoe, the Township of Tiny offers 70km of coastline along beautiful Georgian Bay. The municipality’s approximate population of 13,000 residents at least doubles in the summer as the region is a popular destination for both tourism and cottagers due to its beautiful waterfront areas and small-town appeal.
The Township of Tiny is currently seeking 3 qualified candidates for its annual temporary complement ofRoads Operator I – Night Patrol positions.
Under the supervision of the Roads Operator Working Lead Hand, the Roads Operator I – Night Patrol performs the operation, maintenance and monitoring of roads in compliance with applicable legislation and Township standards.
This position is deemed to be an “Essential Service” in the event of an emergency.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will meet or exceed the following qualifications:
- Excellent knowledge of heavy trucks and equipment acquired through practical experience
- Minimum 3 to 5 years’ related work experience or equivalent
- Valid Class "DZ" Driver’s Licence in positive standing
- Valid Class "AZ" Driver’s Licence considered to be an asset to move float trailer
- Surface Miners Certificate
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Diploma, certificate or 3 to 5 years of related work experience in the operation of heavy equipment including backhoes, dozers, loaders, graders, street sweepers and trucks with snowplow equipment
- Knowledge of regulations relating to salt management,
minimum maintenance standards, gravel pit operation, drivers hours, drainage etc.
- Good knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Good interpersonal, public relations, communication, time management and record-keeping skills
- Self-starter, able to complete all tasks independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information is critical
- Bilingualism in English and French considered to be an asset
