The role requires a Bachelor of Education, valid BC teaching certificate, and a recognized graduate degree in Counseling Psychology. Counselors are expected to engage collaboratively with teaching staff and inclusive education personnel to create supportive environments for students with emotional and behavioural challenges. This position emphasizes ongoing skilled growth while implementing innovative instructional strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct suicide risk assessments and individualized counselling
• Work with teachers to develop individualized education plans
• Promote social skills development among students
• Engage with families and community members for collaborative support
• Create an engaging classroom atmosphere for active learning
Requirements:
• Bachelor of Education and valid teaching certificate
• Master's degree in Counseling Psychology
• Proven experience with behaviour disorders
• Awareness of child protection regulations and guidelines
• Strong collaborative and innovative problem-solving skills
Contribute to a supportive learning environment and enhance student experiences as a District Counsellor.
