JMC is pleased to partner with Ben Hokum & Son Limited , a family-operated sawmill and leading producer of red and white pine lumber in Eastern Ontario. Based in Golden Lake, Ontario, the company is known for its commitment to quality, innovation, and operational excellence.
Ben Hokum & Son Limited is seeking a Quality Control Specialist to join their team on either a full-time or part-time basis. The regular operating schedule is Monday to Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Part-time hours can be discussed based on the successful candidate’s availability.
Key Responsibilities Complete regular grade checks on rough and finished lumber
Document and report defects, inconsistencies, and grading concerns
Monitor and inspect lumber throughout the production process, from debarking to finished product
Train and mentor production employees on grading standards and quality practices
Work with production employees to identify and resolve quality issues




Develop and implement quality control procedures and protocols
Collaborate with management to identify opportunities for process improvement
Education and Experience Minimum of five years of lumber grading experience with both dressed and rough lumber
White pine grading experience is mandatory
Lumber grading permit or equivalent experience
Previous quality control experience within the lumber or manufacturing industry is considered an asset
Strong knowledge of lumber grading standards and quality control practices
Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify defects and inconsistencies
Solid communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
