Journeyperson Automotive Mechanic
SOUTHLAND is currently seeking a Journeyperson Mechanic to join our team of maintenance professionals. This is a self-directed and independent worker’s dream role! This role is responsible for servicing/repairing SOUTHLAND school buses in a safe, productive, and effective manner. This position is not confined to Okotoks shop activities as the Mechanic may be required to perform mobile field work on units as required.

This role is responsible for servicing/repairing SOUTHLAND school buses in a safe, efficient, and effective manner. This position is not confined to Okotoks shop activities as the Mechanic may be required to perform mobile field work on units as required.
Duties Ongoing maintenance/repair of buses
Diagnose equipment problems
CVIP Inspections
Respond to breakdowns
Spring and winter maintenance
Complete all documentation associated with equipment repairs




Work with shop management to maintain schedules and priorities
Follow SOUTHLAND procedures and guidelines
Requirements Journeyperson Ticket (Automotive)
Own hand tools
Fluent in written and spoken English
2 – 5 years of related experience
Valid Driver’s License (Class 2 or 3 considered an asset)
CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) License considered an asset
Exposure to working on diesel engines
Analytical and troubleshooting skills
Ability to comprehend/operate diagnostic and manual measuring tools, including micrometers, brake drum gauge, Ohmmeters, and AVR (Amps, Volts & Resistors)
Computer proficiency
Remuneration $40.00 per hour
Bi-weekly pay period (every second Friday)
