Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled welder, or welder apprentice to join our construction and fabrication team. The successful candidate will fabricate, assemble, repair and modify metal components for residential, commercial and infrastructure projects.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable interpreting drawings and welding specifications, operating various welding and metalworking equipment, and completing work safely and accurately in both shop and construction‑site environments. You will work closely with construction teams and assist the skilled tradespeople and contribute to the overall success of construction projects.
About Bretoba Contracting Ltd Key Responsibilities: Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
Operate manual or semi‑automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as MIG, flux‑core, stick and/or TIG welding processes




Operate manual or semi‑automatic flame‑cutting equipment
Operate brazing and soldering equipment
Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and bending machines
Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers
Inspect completed welds and fabricated components for accuracy, quality, strength and conformance with specifications
Set up, adjust, clean and perform routine maintenance on welding and fabrication equipment
Work collaboratively with carpenters, concrete crews, equipment operators, supervisors and other trades
Follow company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Perform other welding, fabrication, repair and construction‑related duties as directed.
Cutting and preparing metal components
Preparing materials/equipment to be welded
Key Qualifications: Completion of secondary school
Completion of a welding apprenticeship program or a combination of welding education and directly related trade experience, or welding experience
1-3 years of welding or metal‑fabrication experience is preferred
Welder trade certification or Red Seal endorsement is considered an asset
Experience with structural steel, custom fabrication,



construction welding, or machinery and equipment repair is considered an asset
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings and welding specifications.
Experience with MIG, flux‑core, stick and/or TIG welding processes
Ability to accurately measure, cut, fit, assemble and weld metal components
Robust manual dexterity, hand‑eye coordination and attention to detail
Ability to work safely in a physically demanding, fast‑paced environment
Ability to lift and handle heavy materials and perform repetitive physical tasks
Dependable, hardworking, flexible and able to work effectively as part of a team
Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are preferred
English‑language ability sufficient to understand instructions, specifications and workplace safety requirements

Wage range: $23-$33 per hour, depending on experience, certifications, welding processes and demonstrated skill level.
Additional consideration may be given to candidates with Red Seal certification, structural‑welding experience, multiple welding‑process qualifications or proven custom‑fabrication capabilities.
