Step into a vital role at the Law Society of Ontario as Counsel for Licensing Equity Initiatives. This position centers on supporting the fair treatment of candidates in the licensing process.
As Counsel, you will focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) within licensing practices, serving particularly those from Indigenous and other underrepresented groups. Your expertise will guide the development of equitable policies and support candidates through navigating the complexities of their journey towards licensing. Collaboration with various stakeholders will strengthen relationships and create effective programs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist candidates in navigating licensing complexities
• Evaluate licensing policies through an EDI lens
• Serve as a resource for stakeholders on EDI matters
• Foster relationships with Indigenous legal service providers
• Support the creation of educational materials on licensing
Requirements:
• LLB or JD required
• Current Class L1 licence with the Law Society of Ontario
• At least 5 years in legal practice or related field
• Experience working with EDI and Indigenous issues
• Solid organizational and communication abilities
