Nature of the work
As a Community Learning Centre (CLC) development agent, you will act as a bridge between the school and its community, building and nurturing partnerships with families, local organizations, and stakeholders. You will work collaboratively with school/Centre teams to mobilize community resources that enhance student success, well-being, and engagement, while supporting the vitality of the English-speaking community.
Description of tasks
General functions
Under the overall supervision of the principals, and with the support of the Project Director of LEARN's Provincial Resource Team (PRT), the Project Development Agent is responsible forimplementing various initiatives for students, families, and members of the school/centre community, and to contribute directly to their educational projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In collaboration with the Local Partnership Table, the Project Development Agentwill develop partnerships to support programs that address the needs of academic enrichment, recreation and social services for students, parents and the community;
Engage the schools and community;
Develop and maintain strong and positive relationships with the school community (students, families,
teachers and partners);
Investigate and access community needs and strengths to meet the needs of the CLC;
Identify and connect with appropriate local community providers and government agencies;
Coordinate and facilitate the recruitment and supervision of Activity Managers;
Obtain special funding and assist in project planning;
Meet regularly with the CLC Partnership Table, school staff and appropriate community providers;
Participate in provincial networks of local project managers;
Organize and maintain personnel files and documentation as required;
Supervision of employees in CLC projects (in collaboration with management)
Work environment
The work is normally performed in an office environment and/or other locations deemed necessary
May require occasionalwork in the early morning, evening, or weekend
Required Qualifications
A bachelor's degreein a related field
Minimum of two years of experience in program development
Desired profile
Experience in managing budgets
Experience supervising staff and volunteers;
Knowledge of the public school system and the community
Experience working with a variety of agencies, community groups and programs;
Ability to work independently and collaborate with other local CLC project managers
Group facilitation skills;
Possess strong verbal and written communication skills in French and English;
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
Possess excellent time management and organizational skills;
Proficiency in the use of Word, Excel and database programs.
