As a Senior Software Developer in Test (SDET) at Exchange Solutions, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, reliable, and defect-free solutions across our core platform and client-facing applications. Working within an agile team, you will help build scalable and reusable solutions aligned with our technology roadmap.You will design and execute comprehensive testing strategies across functional, integration, regression, and performance testing, while supporting the full QA lifecycle from test planning through defect resolution. This is a hands‑on role focused on improving test coverage, strengthening automation, and ensuring consistent application of quality standards.You will collaborate closely with engineering, product, and architecture teams to validate requirements, enhance testability, and reduce risk. Agentic AI tools are a core part of how we work, and you will be expected to integrate AI‑assisted workflows into your daily testing practice, from test generation and coverage analysis to automated validation and defect triage. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, takes ownership of quality, and continuously looks for ways to improve testing practices and efficiency, including through AI‑assisted approaches.Key ResponsibilitiesDefine, review, and maintain quality standards, policies, and procedures across projectsDesign and execute test strategies including functional, integration, regression, and performance testingCreate and maintain test plans, test cases, and coverage matrices for manual and automated testingAnalyze test results and provide recommendations on release readinessDesign, build, and evolve scalable, maintainable, and reusable automation frameworks and test suites, ensuring high reliability and seamless integration into CI/CD pipelinesDefine and update templates and documentation for testing artifactsExecute test cases, identify defects,
and ensure proper tracking, prioritization, and resolutionPerform root cause analysis and contribute to continuous improvement of product quality and testing efficiencyCollaborate with engineering, product, and architecture teams to validate requirements and ensure testabilityProvide estimates for QA activities and support project planningMonitor test execution progress and report on coverage, risks, and overall statusEvaluate and recommend testing tools and methodologies to improve efficiency and coverageParticipate in requirement analysis and design discussions to ensure testability and enable early quality validationTake end‑to‑end ownership of quality for assigned features and releasesMaintain and continuously improve test management practices and provide transparent visibility into test coverage, execution progress, and release readinessLeverage AI‑assisted and agent‑based workflows to design, generate, and optimize test coverage, automate validation processes, and accelerate defect detection and triageDevelop and utilize agent‑based workflows or tools to automate repetitive testing and validation tasksRequirementsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience5 or more years of experience in software development and quality assuranceStrong programming skills in Typescript, Python, Java, C, C++, or similar languagesProven hands‑on experience using agentic AI tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar to support test generation,
coverage analysis, and automation workflowsExperience building and maintaining stable and scalable test automation frameworksSolid understanding of functional, integration, system, and performance testingHands‑on experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter, Gatling, K6 or similarStrong understanding of REST APIs, HTTP protocols, and modern service architecturesHands‑on experience with test automation tools such as Playwright, ViTest, Robot Framework, or similarProficiency in SQL and data validationExperience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar, with hands‑on experience integrating automated tests into pipelinesFamiliarity with defect tracking tools such as JIRADemonstrated ability to improve test coverage, reliability, and overall software qualityStrong problem‑solving skills and attention to detailEffective communication and collaboration skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Oracle CloudFamiliarity with microservices and distributed systemsExperience with database systems, data warehouses, and OLAP technologiesExposure to containerization technologies such as Docker and KubernetesExperience working in Agile environmentsThe hiring salary range for this position is$90,000 – $105,000 CAD per year (base salary) .This range reflects the scope and responsibilities of the role and is aligned with current market benchmarks and internal pay equity.Placement within the range is determined based on factors such as:Relevant skills and experienceRole‑related competencies and qualificationsIn accordance with Ontario’s Pay Transparency Act, we disclose that artificial intelligence tools may be used to support parts of the screening and assessment process.
