Position Title: Senior Accountant (Consolidations) Salary & Benefits: $80,000-$90,000, bonus, comprehensive benefits, pension plan, 3 weeks' vacation Position Status: Existing vacancy Location: Gatineau, Quebec / Ottawa, Ontario Work Model: Hybrid - 4 days per week onsite, 1 day work from home Additional Notes: Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their consolidations team. Reporting to the Manager, Consolidations, the Senior Accountant will play a key role in the monthly consolidation and financial close process across multiple entities. This role involves collaborating closely with portfolio companies and internal stakeholders to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of financial reporting. The position offers exposure to complex accounting processes within a dynamic, fast-paced global organization, while contributing to process improvements and supporting strategic financial initiatives. Relocation will be considered for qualified candidates who are able to work in Canada with appropriate work authorization.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a CPA-designated accounting professional with 3–5 years of progressive experience in public accounting, bringing strong analytical skills and a high level of attention to detail. They thrive in fast-paced environments, can manage competing priorities, and are comfortable collaborating with stakeholders across multiple teams and portfolio companies. With a solid understanding of IFRS and strong financial systems expertise—particularly advanced Excel—they are proactive in identifying process improvements and ensuring accurate, compliant financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities Coordinate and execute the monthly consolidation and close process supporting consolidated financial statements across multiple entities
Prepare supporting schedules and analyses required for financial statement disclosures and management reporting
Correspond regularly with portfolio companies and corporate departments on financial close-related activities
Review quarterly accounting reports received from portfolio companies to ensure consistency and accuracy, and provide timely feedback
Maintain corporate-level internal control documentation to support SOX‑compliant financial close processes
Assist in integrating new assets and acquisitions into the consolidated accounting and reporting framework
Support external audit processes by responding to auditor requests and providing required documentation
Proactively identify issues and implement process improvements to streamline financial reporting activities
Perform ad hoc analysis and special projects as required
Qualifications CPA designation (Canada or US) or currently in progress
3–5 years of progressive experience with a Canadian or US public accounting firm
Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail
Ability to work in a dynamic, complex, and fast-paced setting while managing changing priorities
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships across teams and organizational levels
Advanced financial systems experience, including strong Excel skills
Demonstrated knowledge of IFRS
Experience with consolidation systems such as OneStream or Cognos Controller considered an asset
