Become a pivotal part of Dene High School in La Loche as a Full time Land Language Cultural Coordinator. You'll promote land-based knowledge and foster culture while collaborating with students, educators, and community members.
This temporary role requires strong communication and organizational skills, with an emphasis on Indigenous languages and cultural education. As a coordinator, you will work alongside school staff, caregivers, and Elders to implement and enhance language and land-based programs. Your experience in First Nations communities will be key in creating partnerships that engage students in meaningful cultural activities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Share and promote land-based knowledge within the school
• Collaborate with staff, parents, and community members
• Assist in cultivating a positive school culture aligned with Elders' teachings
• Establish partnerships with Elders and Knowledge Keepers
• Coordinate opportunities for immersive cultural experiences
Requirements:
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work positively with staff and community
• First-hand experience in land-based learning
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
• Knowledge of Cree, Dene or Michif is an asset
