We are looking for a commercial leader who can drive revenue, build strong relationships in the market, and establish the hotel's presence in the greater Ottawa area. This role calls for a dynamic, strategic sales leader with a passion for driving results.

The Sales Manager is responsible for managing and achieving the top line sales, generate controllable transient segments and group business sales for overall revenue generation. The successful candidate will solicit recent business and achieve revenue goals established for the hotel. In addition, will implement sales and marketing strategies which facilitate achievement of budget objectives, profitability and return on investment, through building strong business relationships and using effective negotiations and sales practices.
Duties & Responsibilities
Assists in the development and implementation of the hotel Sales Plan
Represents the hotel to individuals, groups and corporations in order to ensure repeat business and gain new business
Proactively researches and solicits new and repeat account opportunities through the use of prospecting techniques such as outside sales calls (pre-qualified and cold calls), telephone, websites, databases, trade shows, feeder market sales trips and other new business lead opportunities
Conducts property site tours and entertains clients in-house or off-site
Represents the hotel to the local community
Works with Operations teams to ensure the appropriate hotel implementation of special promotions and sales initiatives
Supports the service personnel in any way possible to enhance guest experience and satisfaction
Meets and exceeds personal sales room night revenue goals:
monthly, quarterly and yearly
Utilizes the property management system
Promptly sends proposals, contracts and other correspondence
Accurately confirms all bookings, quotes and negotiated rates with adhering to hotel rate structure, credit policies and general hotel policies and procedures
Maintains up-to-date and accurate client files, databases and tracking systems
Stays familiar with industry trends via appropriate publications/trade memberships
Involved in the creation and implementation of marketing and social media strategies
Follows up on leads in a timely and professional manner within the respective territory both by telephone and by digital correspondence.
Fully qualifies each piece of business to understand the overall potential of the booking.
Responsible for full market knowledge as it relates to the strengths and weaknesses of top competitors and industry trends
Develops and maintains positive relations with all guests, vendors, colleagues and brand sales offices while portraying a qualified image at all times.
Prepares weekly sales reports and attends weekly departmental and staff meetings
Follows up on Groups to ensure customer satisfaction

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
A minimum 3 years of hotel sales experience, preferably with corporate and group market experience
A proven track record in cultivating business relationships and strong prospecting skills
Strong negotiations, presentation,
influencing skills and decision-making capabilities
Experience in hotel industry with knowledge of competitive markets considered definite asset
Ability to identify markets, develop sales/marketing strategies to penetrate markets in line with company business plan
Possesses excellent organizational, time management, communication and interpersonal skills
Background in the development & execution of business, marketing and sales plans
Proactive sales approach, assertive, fast-paced, results oriented and driven to succeed
Must be able to travel and may be required to work evenings and weekends as required
Demonstrates strong leadership, team, communication and coaching skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel and Power Point is essential
Experience in the Ottawa hotel market an asset
High degree of professionalism and dedication

Constantly handling of queries and calls from guests, potential guests, and other departments.
Must have own vehicle and willingness to travel to events as required.
Occasionally required to travel out of market.
Must be able to work flexible hours.
Type of Supervision Required
Reports to the Regional Director of Sales & Marketing and General Manager and works under minimal to no supervision. The Individual has complete responsibility to take whatever action is deemed advisable or necessary, subject only to the policies or general rules laid down.
