Support recovery journeys as an Addiction Counsellor with The Salvation Army. Utilize therapeutic techniques, individual treatment planning, and group work to assist clients in overcoming addiction.
This role involves creating recovery plans and conducting individual counselling sessions while monitoring clients’ progress in the Anchorage program. You will facilitate cognitive behavioral classes, anger management, and trauma-based counselling to foster growth. Building solid relationships through empathy and professionalism is key to helping clients achieve their goals.
Key Responsibilities:
• Facilitate Cognitive Behavioral and Relapse Prevention Classes
• Conduct assessments to determine client suitability
• Develop and maintain client treatment/recovery plans
• Administer toxicology tests and provide crisis support
• Liaise with external agencies for comprehensive care
Requirements:
• Degree/diploma in Social Services with Addictions focus
• Actively pursuing CCAC certification within 1 year
• Experience with marginalized populations as addiction counsellor
• Proven skills in motivational interviewing and group facilitation
• Clear Police Reference Check for Vulnerable Sector Screening
