Equipment Sales Representative – Municipal & Government Sales

$50,000 - $60,000 base salary (depending on experience ) + 1% commission on eligible sales

THE ROLE
Our client is seeking an organized and motivated Equipment Sales Representative to support the growth of their equipment sales, with a primary focus on municipal, governmental, and public-sector customers.
This is a primarily office-based sales role in Woodbridge, with responsibility for prospecting new opportunities, developing customer relationships, supporting the sales cycle, preparing quotes and proposals, and coordinating with internal teams to ensure a strong customer experience. The successful candidate will also represent the organization at customer meetings, trade shows, equipment demonstrations, and deliveries as required.
The role will primarily focus on municipal and government sales, with opportunities to support additional customer segments and sales initiatives. Travel is expected to average approximately 10–15% per month, with some periods potentially reaching 25% depending on business needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Proactively identify and develop sales opportunities with municipalities, government agencies, public works departments, contractors, and related customers.
- Conduct outbound sales activities including phone calls, emails, prospecting, customer follow-ups, and relationship development.
- Support the full sales cycle from lead generation and customer qualification through quoting, proposal preparation, follow-up, and closing.
- Monitor municipal and government purchasing opportunities, tenders, bid platforms, and relevant public-sector sales channels.
- Maintain accurate customer information, sales activities, opportunities, and pipeline records within the CRM or ERP system.
- Develop a strong understanding of equipment product lines, offerings, value propositions, and after-sales support.
- Prepare customer quotes, product information, sales packages, proposals, and follow-up materials.
- Coordinate with internal teams including Parts, Service, Logistics, Administration, and Finance to support order fulfillment and customer satisfaction.
- Represent the organization professionally at trade shows, customer meetings, equipment demonstrations, deliveries, and other sales-related events.
- Identify and provide warm referrals and sales opportunities to other departments, including Parts, Service, and Rentals where applicable.
- Work closely with the Sales Manager to prioritize accounts, target customers, and develop effective sales strategies.
- Assist with other customer segments, sales initiatives, and projects as directed by management.
REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience in sales, customer service, equipment, construction, municipal, or industrial environments is considered an asset.
- Solid communication, follow-up, and relationship-building skills.
- Comfortable making outbound calls, sending sales emails, prospecting, and following up with prospective customers.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple leads, quotes, customer inquiries, and follow-ups simultaneously.
- Professional, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Comfortable learning technical product information and communicating equipment features and value to customers.
- Experience with CRM, ERP, or sales tracking systems is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with NetSuite CRM is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of municipal procurement, public works, construction equipment, or road maintenance equipment is considered an asset.
- Valid Ontario driver's license required.
- Ability and willingness to travel for customer meetings, trade shows, demonstrations, deliveries, and other business requirements.
