About Us

Port Dental Centre is a patient-focused, family-oriented dental practice serving St. Catharines and the Niagara Region. Led by Dr. Carolyn Blair and Dr. Brian Stewart, we pride ourselves on building lasting relationships and utilizing modern technology—including single-visit CEREC 3D restorations—to deliver exceptional oral healthcare in a supportive, cooperative environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Chairside Assistance: Assist dentists during examinations, restorative procedures, CEREC restorations, and general treatment.
- Radiography & Diagnostics: Take digital X-rays and preliminary impressions/scans as needed.
- Infection Control: Maintain high standards of sterilization and instrument processing in compliance with Public Health Ontario and HARP guidelines.
- Patient Care: Prepare treatment rooms, seat patients, update medical histories, and provide post-procedure care instructions.
- Intra-Oral Duties (HARP & HARDA standards): Apply topical anesthetics, liners, matrix bands,



and perform polishing/fluoride application as permitted by certification level.
- Practice Support: Assist with dental supply inventory and maintain clean, organized operatory environments.

Qualifications & Skills

- NDAEB certification preferred (HARP certified for digital radiography)
- Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting Level II program (Level I with strong experience considered)
- Active registration with ODAA (Ontario Dental Assistants Association) is an asset
- Experience with digital dental software and modern technologies (e.g., CEREC) is a plus
- Strong interpersonal skills with a warm, patient-first demeanor

Schedule

- Standard clinic hours (Monday–Friday) with early evening coverage on Thursdays. No weekend shifts.
