# 2627-256 Inclusive Education0.7 FTE District Itinerant CounsellorThis is a temporary contract position.Schedule in Consultation with SupervisorThis position is effective September 8, 2026 and will continue until December 31, 2026.While all applicants will be considered, preference will be given to qualified applicants who self-declare Indigenous ancestry.The starting annual salary for a school teacher position ranges from $58,000 to $110,000, with placement on the range based on the length of service and qualifications in accordance in accordance with the collective agreement. Positions of Special Responsibility receive an additional pay allowance in accordance with the collective agreement based on the levels 1, 2, or 3.Please contact Christine Love, Director of Instruction, Inclusion,if you have questions relating to this position.District Based Itinerant Elementary/Secondary CounsellorCurrent knowledge and ability to support students in behavioural and emotional needs.Expertise in specific behavioural and emotional needsexpertise in a wide range of management strategiesexpertise in recognizing symptoms and indicators related to specificareasof concern e.G. child abuse, suicide, depression,etc.Expertise in a wide range of programs e.G. Open Parachute, EASE,



etc.Advocate for student needsphilosophical understanding and ability to implement changes to meetstudent needsStrong Personal and Interpersonal Skillsdemonstrates empathydemonstrates good listening skillsdemonstrates robust communication and mediation skillsdemonstrates ability to work collaboratively with education and community personneldemonstrates ability to develop positive relationships with children and youthTrainingCertification and/or eligible for certification with the BC Teacher Regulation BranchMasters in Counselling, including:Coursework in social and emotional developmentCoursework in abnormal psychologyCoursework in behavior disorders and mental illnessClinically supervised counselling practicum / internshipLevel B AssessmentExperienceMinimum of 5 years successful classroom teaching experiencesuccessful counseling and/or related experienceAdditional qualifications and related skillsinterviewing skillsconflict resolution skillscommunication skillsmediation skillsprevention and intervention strategiesthreat and risk assessment training for elementary and secondarycritical incident and crisis response trainingmust be eligible for certification with the BC Teachers Regulation BranchDutiescoordination of parent presentations (Restitution, Trauma informed care, etc.)provides in services support for staff on sexual health & SOGI education.Supports staff by providing training & modeling on the deliver of Tier 1;
