At Alpine, our People & Culture team works closely with our operations leaders to help navigate the day-to-day challenges that come with a large,fast-pacedand unionized workforce.We'relooking for a Labour Relations Business Partner who brings strong labour relations experience whereyou'llbe a trusted advisor to operations, helping leaders understand and apply collective agreements, manage employee issues, and build productive relationships with our union partners.You'll work through a wide range of matters, from grievances and discipline to investigations, attendance, accommodations, performance concerns, and changes in the workplace. You’ll need to be comfortable having difficult conversations, challenging decisions when needed, and providing practical advice that considers both the collective agreement and the needs of the business.What You Will Be Doing
Provideday-to-day labour relations advice, including collective agreement interpretation and applicationManage grievances from intake through resolution andparticipatein grievance and labour-management meetingsCoachleaders on progressive discipline, attendance management, performance, workplace conduct, and other employee mattersBuild andmaintainpositive, productive relationships with union representativesLead andparticipatein collective bargaining, including preparing proposals, researching issues, developing bargaining strategies,
and negotiating collective agreementsSupport the implementation of new collective agreements and ensure negotiated changes are applied consistentlyProvide guidance on seniority, scheduling, hours of work, overtime, leaves, job postings, and other collective agreement provisionsIdentifylabour relations trends and work with leaders to address concerns proactively and improve workplace practicesConduct workplace investigations and provide practical, balanced recommendationsSupport accommodations, return-to-work processes, and other matters where collective agreement and legislative requirements intersectAdvise leaders on employment legislation, human rights, occupational health and safety, and other workplace requirementsMaintainaccuratedocumentation and records related to labour relations mattersPartner with the broader People & Culture team on organizational changes, policies, programs, and initiatives with labour relationsimplicationsSupport special projects, other duties, events, and changing operational requirementsWhat You Will Bring
5+years of progressivehumanresources experience with significant labour relations experience in a unionized environmentStrong experience interpreting and applying collective agreements in a day-to-day operational environmentDemonstrated experience managing grievances, progressive discipline, workplace investigations, attendance management, accommodations, and other complex labour relations mattersExperienceparticipatingin grievance meetings,
labour-management meetings, mediations, arbitrations, multi-employernegotiationsor other formal labour relations & processesConfident advising and coaching leaders through difficult employee and workplace situationsStrong understanding oflabour andemployment legislationStrong communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skillsComfortable working in a rapid-paced multi-union operational environment where priorities can change quicklyAbility to travel to worksites asrequiredMust be able to obtain andmaintaincompany and/or client-required security clearancesAbout Alpine
