We are looking to fill 4 positions for the Medical Laboratory Technologist 1, Core Laboratory in which you will perform routine laboratory analysis in chemistry, hematology, transfusion medicine and specimen collection and handling activities. While performing analysis, you must be able to recognize normal and atypical findings and initiate the appropriate action. Accurate testing allows the practitioner to accurately diagnose medical conditions and arrange for proper care and treatment which ultimately impacts a patient’s morbidity. This accurate and timely testing also assists public health teams address regional or territorial health issues in an effective manner.
Approximately 27,000 tests are processed monthly at the STH Laboratory. STH Laboratory lacks a local Pathologist and Pathology services are delivered through a consulting pathologist in Edmonton, Alberta. In the absence of a resident pathologist,
you will act as a resource on Laboratory related practices. The remoteness of STH from major referral centres requires that you have a comprehensive understanding in the Core Laboratory disciplines of Laboratory Medicine as well as instrument maintenance and repair.
