- Pick up passengersand drive them to destinations in taxicabs orlimousines
- Help passengers withluggage and with boarding and exiting vehicles and assistpassengers with special needs
- Collect flat-rate ortaximeter fares
- Maintain travel logsand record cash and credit transactions
- Maintain contact withtaxi dispatch unit
- Clean and make minorrepairs to vehicle or take vehicle for servicing
- May provide pick upand delivery services on request.

Chauffeursperform some or all of the following duties:

- Pick up or meetemployer according to request, appointment or schedule
- Drive employer todestinations in automobile or limousine
- Perform business andpersonal errands for employer such as delivering and picking upmail, business documents and parcels




- Clean and make minorrepairs to vehicle or take vehicle for servicing.

Requirements

- Some secondaryschool education is usually required.
- A minimum of oneyear of protected driving experience is usuallyrequired.
- A Class Gdriver's licence is required in Ontario, and a Class 4driver's licence is required in all other provinces andthe territories.
- Taxi and limousinedrivers require good knowledge of the geographical area to becovered and may have to pass written street/building locationand safety examinations.
- Taxi driversusually require a municipal permit.
- First aidcertification may be required.

- Mobility from taxior limousine driver to chauffeur is possible withexperience.
