Join Keewaytinook Okimakanak as a Community Based Education Special Education Resource Teacher. Provide culturally responsive support and foster student engagement in elementary schools.
In this role, you will work as a Special Education Resource Teacher (SERT) within KO communities, focusing on individualized academic and developmental support for students. Your responsibilities include developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), leading after-school activities, and ensuring effective collaboration with educational staff and community partners. Your efforts will significantly enhance student achievement and retention.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide tailored instructional support for secondary subjects • Facilitate IEP development with education partners • Coordinate special education services for students • Develop transition and retention strategies for students • Communicate regularly with community and educational stakeholders
Requirements: • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree • Eligibility for Ontario College of Teachers certification • Minimum 3 years of relevant teaching experience • Special Education Qualifications preferred • Knowledge of Indigenous perspectives is an asset
