Come join our team and become part of an innovative and rewarding place to work.POSITION SUMMARYThe Public Works Labourer II is responsible for performing the daily tasks required to assist in all aspects of outside maintenance operations, which includes: roads, drainage, landscape, cemetery maintenance & projects, snow removal, fleet and grounds maintenance, carpentry, heavy equipment operation as directed.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or equivalent2-3 years experience in a civil or industrial construction and/or maintenance environment2-3 years experience working with hand tools, power tools and/or heavy equipmentExperience working with Indigenous communities considered an assetKnowledge of safe work procedures and understanding safety culture is considered an assetREQUIREMENTSCriminal record check with results acceptable to WFNValid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and an annual driver’s abstract in excellent standing which is to be submitted annuallySuccessful completion of WFN’s workplace physical demands assessmentKnowledge of computer basics (Word and Excel) as well as other electronic devices.Ability to work outside in any type of weatherWillingness to work evenings weekends and holidaysMaintains a high level of confidentiality and uses discretion on all matters relating to the affairs of Westbank First NationOccupational First Aid Level IWorkplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) CertificateTransportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) CertificateTraffic Control TicketSkidsteer TicketChainsaw CertificationSnow Plow Operator CertificationS100 Basic Fire Suppression and Safety CoursePREFERREDValid Class 1 or Class 3 BC Driver’s LicenseLandscape Horticulture CertificateSports Field Maintenance CertificateCertified Irrigation Technician Level 1 and/or 2Small Engine Repair Certificate.At least 3 accredited courses towards a discipline.Position Focus:Performs manual labour duties as part of the department's landscape and infrastructure maintenance activities and to assist fellow crewmembers to ensure economical, cost‑effective, and efficient use of resources.Operation and maintenance of equipment and power tools such as skid steer, tractor, mini‑excavator, dump truck, tamper, power rake, aerator, top dresser, lawn mower, weed‑eater, cement mixer, pressure washer, saws, drills and miscellaneous hand tools.Performs a variety of maintenance tasks related to roads, bus stops, drainage systems, landscape projects and grounds maintenance, carpentry and new asset construction.Ability to work flexible hours, including shift work, overtime and emergency call outs.Performs minor repairs and assists with assembly,



removal and adjustments of attachments to various pieces of equipment andArranges for traffic control, the placement of barricades and warning lights around work projects in high and low traffic situations and adverse weatherCompletes assigned tasks on time and on budget.Considers, prioritizes and acts on the needs of both internal and external Clients.Delivers excellent service and project deliverables.Ability to be self‑motivated with personal initiative to start and complete projects with pre‑approval when required.Knowledge of plan reading, pipe locating, and map reading (paper and digital)Being part of the rotating on‑call schedule is required for this position which includes responding to after hour calls within a 20‑minute response time and takes corrective action as required.Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Westbank First Nation laws, policies, standards and procedures and as directed by theCarries out other duties as may be required or assigned by a SupervisorHealth and Safety (HSE) Focus:Follows the health, safety and environmental program and protocols, and buys into the strict safety culture of the industry.Sets positive examples relative to the HSE program and protocols.Demonstrates sound understanding of hazard identification, assessment and control.
