Director, Construction Advisory & Dispute ServicesBDO Canada is looking for a new role to lead construction advisory services in dispute and delay analysis. The successful candidate will own the following responsibilities:Manage projects and monitor the quality of work performed on construction related to dispute and advisory engagements, including matters related to construction delay, lost productivity, time impact studies, project scheduling, project cost assessment, litigation context, insurance claims, and proactive advisory services.Lead the planning and execution of construction claims related services, including compiling financial data, performing analysis, and preparing recommendations in matters of dispute management, dispute avoidance, and project planning & controls.Correspond with clients, contractors, project owners, developers, lawyers, construction project teams, insurance adjusters, and internal contacts to discuss file issues and present findings.Develop and maintain client relationships at the highest level, including accountability for most operational aspects of client engagement.Attend client sites to perform work when and where required.Attract and retain top talent to support a sustainable and growing practice.Coach, mentor, and train junior staff; prepare and deliver internal technical training programs; strategically assign work opportunities; conduct project/team performance reviews and provide continuous feedback on individual performance.Participate and lead initiatives in business development activities within the global BDO network and externally in the marketplace.Required QualificationsDegree-level education in Engineering, Construction Management, or Quantity Surveying related field.



A Master’s or Post Graduate level university education would be an asset.Minimum 10+ years of experience in construction claims advisory and dispute resolution, with demonstrated expertise in completing, leading, and/or managing construction delay engagements, including writing expert reports. Provision of testimony would be considered an asset.Strong analytical, construction project management, and scheduling skills, including expert level knowledge of industry specific tools such as Primavera and MS Project.Strong knowledge of consulting and expert witness roles in the context of construction claims advisory and disputes.PQS/MRICS qualified or equivalent certification would be an asset.Previous experience working on various construction contract types with strong contract administration and quantity surveying skills is desirable.Experience in damage quantification focused on contractual claims, disputes, and litigation would be an asset.Detail-oriented, excellent organizational skills, self-driven, and highly motivated to be a leader.Ability and willingness to travel within Canada and internationally, if the need arises.Compensation$123,000 - $173,000 per year (range is for reference; actual salary will be determined based on experience and market conditions).BenefitsCompetitive total cash compensation.Flexible perks from day one.Market‑leading paid time off policy.Reimbursement for wellness initiatives.Support for community engagement and charitable initiatives.Equal OpportunitiesWe believe every employee should have the opportunity to participate and succeed.
