The role involves participation in field and office engineering tasks, estimating, and safety processes.Position starts tentatively May 2026.District OverviewKiewit Energy Canada is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta and works on projects that include oil & gas facilities, midstream, power, and major mine developments. The engineering branch offers innovative services for current and future Canadian projects.LocationBased in Edmonton, Alberta with the possibility to relocate or travel as required.ResponsibilitiesField Engineering:Assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervisionPerform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percentage of completed/installed materials and workAssist in the preparation of work plans and work packagesAssist in field surveying and work layout support including elevation, control points, and compilation of as‑built dataAssist in compiling, processing, and confirming daily labor timesheetsAssist in the preparation of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s)Participate in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox meetings, mass safety meetings, and safety trainingOrder and schedule material deliveriesPlan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsiteSupervise field operationsOffice Engineering:Perform material takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and other contract documentsPerform basic engineering calculations and technical drafting to support field operationsAssist engineers to gather and prepare data for submittal or transmittal to customer, vendors, subcontractors, governmental agencies,



and internal useParticipate in the preparation of purchase orders and subcontracts, performing minor solicitations and purchasing as requestedSchedule maintenance and perform updates as directed by othersAssist in the maintenance of basic project record‑keeping and correspondence functions including daily reports, photographs, requests for information (RFIs), and memorandumsEnter data into the job cost system and participate in reviewing cost reports with jobsite managementAssist in generating change orders and as‑built data to be reviewed by the Project ManagerProvide field support and supervise subcontractor operationsEstimating:Assist in reviewing and analyzing historical data relative to the project, incorporating various production and cost information for bid preparationComplete a plan and specification review for an assigned project, assessing the risk areas and bringing them to the attention of the Senior EstimatorComplete material and quantity takeoffs according to bid documentsQualificationsApplicants must be entering their final year of study at the time of the internshipAbility to travel or relocate as neededAbility to work full‑time during the summer (approximately May to August)Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in mechanical, electrical engineering, construction management or related fieldAbility to freely access all points of a construction site in a wide‑ranging climate and environmentHighly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and initiativeStrong work ethic,
