Our public sector client is seeking a Enterprise Search Engineer (10+ years) to enhance enterprise search capabilities using SearchBlox, WordPress SEO, and Single Page Applications (SPAs)

Join a high-visibility modernization initiative focused on improving enterprise search experiences across internal and public-facing digital platforms. This role supports the enhancement and optimization of search functionality for large-scale web environments. The position involves collaboration across business, communications, content, and technical teams to improve information discovery, accessibility, and search performance. The engagement includes modernization efforts involving SearchBlox, SEO optimization, structured data, and search analytics.

Contract, Toronto, Hybrid, Working Hours: EST

Must Haves

- 10+ years with SearchBlox , Elasticsearch , or Apache Solr including integration, configuration, and performance optimization in WordPress CMS and SPAs
- Technical SEO , structured data , JSON-LD , metadata optimization , and SearchBlox analytics
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience
- JavaScript SEO, agile rendering, pre-rendering, canonicalization, crawl budget optimization
- Python, Bash, JavaScript, cURL,



and SEO analytics platforms including Google Search Console , GA4 , SEMrush , Ahrefs , and Screaming Frog

Nice to Have

- WordPress plugin configuration including Yoast and RankMath
- Search optimization across large-scale web environments with thousands of webpages and services
- User research, usability reviews, and search performance analysis

Responsibilities

- Support the assessment, enhancement, and optimization of enterprise search functionality across digital platforms
- Collaborate with business, communications, content, and technical teams to identify search-related challenges and recommend solutions
- Support modernization of the intranet search environment including SearchBlox upgrades and optimization activities
- Analyze employee feedback, user behavior, and search analytics to improve content discoverability
- Assist with modernization initiatives for Toronto.ca by improving website search, navigation, and information architecture
- Conduct user research, usability reviews, and search performance analysis to identify barriers to information access
- Monitor search performance metrics and prepare reports, recommendations, and presentations for continuous improvement initiatives
