Join the First Nations Financial Management Board as Senior Legal Counsel, where you will provide essential legal support to enhance Indigenous governance and financial practices in a hybrid setting.

This prominent position requires a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) along with over 10 years of comprehensive legal experience. As Senior Legal Counsel, you will ensure compliance with legal frameworks while supporting Board activities and strategic planning.

Your deep understanding of Indigenous cultures and robust communication skills will propel our mission forward.

Key Responsibilities:
Serve as Corporate General Counsel ensuring FMA compliance
Draft and negotiate legal agreements and policies




Monitor and assist in governance practices and Board reports
Collaborate with external legal advisors and stakeholders
Evaluate organizational risks and propose mitigative measures

Requirements:
LLB or JD with member status in Law Society
Minimum 10 years in a legal workplace
Expertise in corporate governance and public policy
Knowledge of the Indian Act is beneficial
Fluent in English; French proficiency an asset
