Make a difference at Bear Creek Elementary as an Educational Sign Language Interpreter. This role involves supporting deaf and hard of hearing students through effective interpretation.
This temporary full time position lasts until January 31, 2028. As part of a cooperative team, you will provide interpreting services for various school functions while aligning with the students’ Individual Education Plans (I.E.P). Fluency in American Sign Language and a solid understanding of Deaf culture are essential for fostering effective communication with students and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide interpreting services for instructional and school activities
• Review material and concepts for effective interpretation
• Participate in the I.E.P. team for student needs
• Operate auditory equipment and ensure functionality
• Assist with language development strategies as needed
Requirements:
• Two-year post-secondary program in Sign Language Interpretation
• At least one year of related interpreting experience
• Very high fluency in American Sign Language
• Active membership in WAVLI required
• Consent to Criminal Records Search prior to employment
