Responsibilities
Develop practice plans, game strategies, and other coaching tools and resources in order to develop player skill sets while having fun playing the sport
Teach players proper technique for all aspects of the game including footwork, ball handling, shooting mechanics, defense techniques, court positioning etc.
Monitor student-athlete's academic and social progress
Establish high standards for team conduct, encouragement and discipline
Communicate regularly with players, parents, administration, and other staff members of the organization
Create a positive workplace where players can learn fundamental skills to play successfully at higher levels
Maintain records of player development and performance over the course of the season
Attend coaching seminars, clinics, and meetings as required
Qualifications/Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education or related field preferred; High School Diploma or equivalent minimum requirement
3+ years Basketball Coaching/playing experience
Demonstrated knowledge of basketball fundamentals including offensive/defensive strategies, drills, and team management
Solid organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
Knowledge of sport safety guidelines and injury prevention
Ability to motivate student-athletes, create a positive team environment, and demonstrate sportsmanship
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to lead by example
Valid driver’s license is required (including travel as needed)
Successful completion of background check(s) required prior to start date.
Ability to travel as needed for games/tournaments/clinics etc.
