SHN is the recipient of the 2021 Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Award from the Canadian College of Health Leaders and has been named Canada's Most Admired Corporate Cultures for 2023‐2025 and Greater Toronto's Top Employers for 2026.Position OverviewReporting to the Director, Digital Health, Artificial Intelligence & Information Security, the Digital Enterprise Architect is responsible for the strategic design, governance, and evolution of enterprise technology architecture across all Scarborough Health Network (SHN) sites. This role ensures that digital solutions are secure, scalable, interoperable, and aligned with clinical, operational, and organizational priorities. The Digital Enterprise Architect will lead the translation of business and clinical requirements into technical architecture, supporting high‐quality patient care, system integration, and long‐term digital transformation.ResponsibilitiesProvide strategic leadership and oversight for enterprise architecture across applications, infrastructure, data, and integration domainsDesign and maintain enterprise architecture frameworks, standards, and solution blueprints aligned with SHN strategic prioritiesLead the development of solution architectures for clinical and corporate systems (e.G., EHR/EMR, ERP, cloud and digital platforms)Partner with clinical, operational, and corporate stakeholders to assess needs and translate requirements into scalable technical solutionsDesign and oversee integration architecture and data flows to enable interoperability across internal systems and external provincial partnersGuide infrastructure design including cloud (e.G., Azure), on‐premise,



and hybrid environments to ensure performance, scalability, and securitySupport digital health and innovation initiatives including AI‐enabled tools, patient engagement platforms, and remote monitoring solutionsEnsure compliance with privacy, security, and regulatory requirements (e.G., PHIPA, PIPEDA) through architecture design and governance processesParticipate in and support governance structures including Architecture Review Board (ARB), Change Advisory Board (CAB), and project intake processesDevelop and maintain architecture standards, policies, and documentation to support consistent and sustainable solution deliveryLead or support vendor evaluations, RFP processes, and technical assessmentsIdentify and mitigate technical risks, including cybersecurity, privacy, system performance, and integration challengesCollaborate with external partners including vendors, consultants, Ontario Health, and other healthcare organizations to support interoperability and alignment with provincial initiativesDevelop and monitor architecture‐related metrics, standards compliance, and solution performance outcomesProvide expert advice and technical guidance to leadership, project teams, and stakeholders on architecture and digital solutionsSupport continuous improvement initiatives, innovation, and reduction of technical debt across the organizationFoster strong working relationships and contribute to a collaborative, respectful, and inclusive team environment aligned with SHN valuesParticipate in organizational projects, committees, and strategic initiativesRequirementsUniversity degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Health Informatics, or related field; Master's degree considered an assetMinimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in IT, digital solutions architecture, or enterprise architecture rolesExperience working within a complex, multi‐stakeholder,



or healthcare workplace preferredDemonstrated experience designing enterprise‐scale architecture and integrating complex systems across multiple platformsStrong knowledge of cloud computing (e.G., Azure), infrastructure architecture, system integration, and application lifecycle managementKnowledge of healthcare regulations, privacy legislation, and interoperability standards (e.G., PHIPA, PIPEDA, Ontario Health frameworks)Experience with IT governance frameworks, architecture review processes, and service management practices (e.G., ITIL)Proven ability to lead technical design, influence decision‐making, and collaborate with senior leaders and cross‐functional teamsStrong analytical, problem‐solving, and risk assessment skillsExcellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non‐technical audiencesDemonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and support large‐scale transformation initiativesExperience with digital health technologies, AI‐enabled solutions, or emerging technologies considered an assetAccommodation And Diversity StatementScarborough Health Network (SHN) embraces and celebrates our community's unique multicultural heritage and diversity.
