About the position
Under the direction of and working closely with the Director, Partnerships and Giving, the Senior Officer, Partnerships and Giving is a skilled fundraiser, storyteller and relationship builder who assumes a significant role in the organization and delivery of fundraising activities that furthers the mission of the Canadian Museum of Nature to maximize revenue and provide superior stewardship and impactful engagement with donors, partners and sponsors.
They are an important member of a small team in the planning, organization and delivery of corporate grants, sponsorships and foundation gifts and play a pivotal role in achieving the strategic revenue objectives of the Partnerships and Giving team. The Senior Officer, Partnerships and Giving is responsible for the management and execution of the Museum’s corporate grant, sponsorship and foundation fundraising portfolio up to $250,000 bringing a dedicated focus to this institutional fundraising program.
In collaboration with the Director, Partnerships and Giving,



the Senior Officer is also responsible for working with and supporting the management of the major and transformational pipeline ($250,000 +). The Senior Officer identifies, cultivates, manages, solicits and stewards a personal portfolio of foundation and corporate grant making prospects in the $25,000-$250,000 range.
They act as an ambassador for the Museum in the giving community and assist in other duties as required in furthering the goals of the Partnerships and Giving Team.

Eligibility criteria
This position is open to all Employees of the Canadian Museum of Nature and any members of the public who meet the qualifications below.
Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Education and training:
Completion of a post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate in fundraising, fundraising management, museum studies, business, marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, or a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Language requirements:
Englis and French are essential
Bilingual non imperative (CBC/CBC)
Experience:




Minimum 3 years of fundraising experience, including experience in leading cultivation, solicitation and closing of corporate sponsorship and foundation mid-level giving ($ 1,000-$ 100,000).
Experience in independently identifying, creating, closing and retaining donors at the mid and major levels ($1,000-$250,000+)
Experience in leading successful fundraising and program management in a complex environment to create and execute strategies to achieve business goals.
Experience in developing and designing proposals, pitches and impact reports, managing gift agreements, memorandums of understanding, and/or other similar agreements.
Experience in working in and collaborating with inter-disciplinary and cross functional teams to develop funding proposals.
Experience in using fundraising databases, CRM (client relationship management) systems and donor management processes.
The following experiences are considered assets:
Experience in working with community and business leaders
Experience in planning, coordinating and executing fundraising stewardship events
Experience in working in a museum, cultural institution or a natural history, scientific or nature focused organization
