Contract Type: Continuing, Full-Time
Assignment Area(s): Resource Teacher
Salary Range: $63,347 to $116,190 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)
Effective Date: September 1, 2026

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience: Extensive academic training and post graduate coursework in the following areas: students with special needs; assessment/testing theory and practice (Level B); strategies for adapting and modifying curriculum.
Knowledge of and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as outlined in the Manual of Policies, Procedures and Guidelines for Special Education Services.
Demonstrated understanding of and successful experience in teaching students with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, autism, chronic health and physical disabilities, and multiple disabilities as defined by the Ministry of Education.
Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of CBIEPs in consultation with the classroom teacher(s), parent(s), student and district personnel.
Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of ISWI/EIRP documents in consultation with support staff, administration, district personnel and families.
Knowledge of and demonstrated success in developing schedules and programs for Education Assistants and support staff
Demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
Demonstrated understanding of inclusion and evidence of implementation using a Universal Design for Learning framework




Demonstrated ability in working as a Case Manager for students at the school, district, and inter-agency levels
Demonstrated willingness to participate as an integral member of the School Based Team
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with classroom teachers to assure that the goals of the CBIEPs are effectively being implemented and evaluated
Demonstrated experience in effective transition planning for elementary to middle and middle to secondary
Demonstrated leadership role in adapting curriculum for students with Exceptionalities
Demonstrated ability to recognize and acknowledge individual student differences and to adjust instructional practices accordingly
Demonstrated organizational, communication and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues verbally and in writing
Demonstrated ability & proven experience in teaching social skill groups, functional life skills, and running resource programs such as baking, cooking, swimming, school store, etc.
Demonstrated ability & proven experience in using technology to support student needs especially ones supported by SET-BC
Demonstrated excellence in the areas of interpersonal skills, communication, and collaboration
Willingness to learn about and participate in Response to Intervention and Instruction processes
Demonstrated ability to use a variety of formative and summative assessments to plan for instruction
Demonstrated excellent classroom management, behavioural management and organizational skills
Commitment to working with staff/parents in an open, accepting manner in order to promote a strong and caring skilled learning community focused on student learning and needs
Demonstrated effective ability to select, adapt, modify and deliver instructional materials to personalize instruction and meet the individual needs of students both individually and in small groups.
Demonstrated ability and commitment to Indigenizing curriculum using the First Peoples Principles of Learning.
