Actuarial Analyst, Annuities is responsible for the valuation, analysis, and reporting of annuity business, including fixed annuity, structured settlement, and variable annuity reinsurance business. This role supports quarterly and year-end actuarial production processes under US GAAP LDTI and US Statutory reporting bases, including financial reporting, regulatory testing, experience analysis, audit support, and model/process improvement initiatives.
This position requires a robust technical foundation in actuarial science, excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, keen attention to detail, and proficiency in actuarial modeling and data analysis tools, including AXIS, Excel, VBA, and SQL.
This position reports to the Divisional AVP, Annuities.
Key Responsibilities:
Take ownership of quarterly actuarial valuation and reporting processes under US GAAP (LDTI) and US Statutory (NAIC) bases, including:
Updating and validating actuarial assumptions and model inputs
Producing financial results, disclosures and supporting control documentation
Generating stochastics scenarios using third-party Economic Scenario Generator
Perform annual regulatory reporting activities, including:
Asset Adequacy Testing (AAT) and Risk-Based Capital (RBC) analysis
Regulatory exhibits and statutory filings
Preparation and filing of the Principle Based Reserving (PBR) Actuarial Report
Support for internal and external audit requests
Perform experience studies, sensitivity testing, and analysis to support assumption setting and business insights
Support pricing initiatives and in-force management activities
Identify opportunities for model refinements and process improvements where appropriate
Perform other duties and ad hoc analyses as assigned by the Manager
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Requirements:
2-5 years of experience at a life (re)insurance or consulting
Proficiency and working experience with Moody's AXIS is an asset
Strong working knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel)
Knowledge of other programming languages and BI tools is an asset (e.g. SQL, Power BI, Python)
Detail oriented with solid analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
Experience with stochastic modeling and Bloomberg Terminal is an asset
Experience with asset-liability modeling is an asset
Salary Range: $80,000-$90,000
Work Location : Hybrid ( 3 days in-office)
