Responsibilities
The Community Outreach Coordinator reports to the Saugeen Ojibway Nation Environment Office (SONEO) Communications Manager, and develops and maintains the Community Engagement Platform. The Community Outreach Coordinator works with the Communications Manager, Events Coordinator, Outreach Associates and leads to design and implement community engagement plans for SONEO files or programs. The Coordinator will create detailed project plans for presentation to the Communications Manager for the Senior Manager and Joint Council. The Coordinator creates metrics to gauge community engagement performance and tracks, records, and assesses the progress of each engagement plan. The Coordinator will assist in preparing presentation materials on a broad range of topics, covering all files in the SONEO, as well as projects identified by the Joint Council.
The Coordinator documents all aspects of community engagement with the support of the Event Planner and Outreach Associates. The Coordinator is outgoing and comfortable speaking to groups of SON members, as well as individuals, in the office, public forums, or while canvassing members in their homes. The Coordinator is a fluent computer user, highly skilled with the Google suite software and website tools, and adept with popular social media platforms.
The Outreach Coordinator will be required to complete the following tasks:
Accurately maintain the Saugeen Ojibway National Membership database
Support the work of the outreach associates and provide mentoring opportunities
Work with the Management team to determine outreach opportunities that support the work of the various departments
Collect, record and report information in an efficient manner
Visit community members at their homes to share communications and information materials
Assist with the distribution of Saugeen Ojibway Nation communication and information materials
Assist with the development of an on and off-reserve engagement plan
Protect the privacy of personal information
Attend training and career development opportunities as required
Maintain accurate records and write summary reports of outreach activities
Provide supervisor with regular updates and assist with the development of a work schedule
Serve as an EO resource to develop a better understanding of community needs
Promote community participation at meetings, celebrations and events
Assist with community events and life celebrations as needed
Represent SON at external events and other celebrations within the community as needed
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 3 years experience in a related role or related skills
Post secondary education in Communications, Business Administration or related experience
Recommended Experience:
Minimum number of 3 years experience engaging with community
Minimum number of 3 years working within an Indigenous community
