Job Description The Merchant Assistant, General Merchandise is responsible for supporting the successful general merchandise business operations, including product data management and administration supporting effective communication of product and seasonal intent.
Product data management includes the timely collection, enrichment and deployment of product data, as well as ensuring the accuracy and quality of product data that meets Indigos standards and the needs of both external and internal customers.
Additionally, this role assists assigned categories with administrative tasks, while supporting go-to-market preparation, sample management, vendor communications, and ad-hoc business analysis reports. KEY PERFORMANCE METRICS Timely and accurate article set up Product data content accuracy and quality.
Online Product: time to site Business partner satisfaction KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Functional Ensure data integrity and accuracy of general merchandise product data for all assigned SKUs (i.e. item creation, price management, product attributes) Drive end-to-end digital process by communicating and collaborating with internal and external partners to acquire specified data, images/photography and copy Complete article set up and enrichment all assigned SKUs, for retail product management and online selling Work with suppliers and internal partners to enrich Indigo product data for online selling.
Complete edits and revisions to product data during product lifecycle, including de-listing and timely off-boarding Support Category management teams with product sample management, weekly business reporting and ad-hoc category needs Prepare weekly sales review, vendor performance, store sales and ad-hoc reporting,
market research and other miscellaneous projects as needed Act as an advocate for the customer by placing them at the forefront of all decision-making and design processes Proactively identify and anticipate customer expectations and needs Embrace and seek out technology that creates high tech and high touch solutions for Indigos customers Challenge the status quo by consistently identifying areas for improvement, diagnosing issues and working to resolve them People Collaborate with others to drive flexible and iterative solutions, quickly and easily Share technical knowledge with others and actively seek to learn from those more knowledgeable than yourself Help others see the impacts of their efforts and proactively engage other functions to get input Encourage others to freely share their point of view and be open to feedback Cultural Role model Indigos guiding principles and convey a positive image in everything you do Celebrate diversity of thought and have an open mindset Take an active role in fostering a culture of continual learning, taking risks without the fear of making mistakes Embrace, champion and influence change through your team and/or the organization KEY RELATIONSHIPS Internal: Merchants Supply Chain Retail Online Creative Master Data External: Vendors Qualifications Work Experience / Education / Certifications Bachelors degree or college diploma in Business, commerce or related field 1-2 years experience in a retail environment preferred Competencies / Skills / Attributes High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel),
Outlook & Internet applications Highly attentive to detail & accuracy in data entry Comfortable with large lists of data/spreadsheets, and sometimes repetitive tasks Proven ability to build productive business relationships with both internal and external partners Solid organizational skills with ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and reacting quickly to shifting priorities Effective communication skills A natural problem solver who is analytical and creative Other Bilingualism in English/French would be an asset Additional Information Indigo uses artificial intelligence (AI) tools to assist with certain aspects of the hiring process, such as screening and assessments.
