**Job Title: Shop Manager**
**Job Description**
This role oversees the day-to-day operations of a busy warehouse and shop, ensuring all tools, vehicles, and equipment are properly maintained, repaired, and ready for use.

You will perform hands-on mechanical maintenance and repairs, coordinate fleet servicing, support field technicians, and contribute to safe, efficient service delivery.

As a key member of a close-knit, family-oriented team, you will help optimize operations while maintaining high standards of professionalism, integrity, and customer service.
**Responsibilities**
Perform mechanical maintenance and small repairs on tools and equipment such as snakes, jackhammers, concrete saws, flushers, and other machinery.

Keep all tools, shop equipment, and warehouse assets in good working order through regular inspection, repair, and preventive maintenance.

Manage the fleet of vehicles and trailers, including batteries, oil changes, light bulbs, fuses, and other routine service tasks.

Conduct dump trailer inspections and maintenance to ensure safe and reliable operation.

Complete small repairs in-house whenever possible to reduce downtime and external service costs.

Coordinate and schedule major vehicle repairs with external mechanics, working with dispatch to select optimal times that minimize service disruption.

Perform truck and trailer work, including loading, securing, transporting, and unloading materials and equipment.

Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, skid steers, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and dump trailers safely and efficiently.

Deliver materials and equipment to job sites in a timely and organized manner.

Assist with plumbing service calls as a second set of hands when required, supporting technicians on site.

Maintain clear, effective communication with administrative staff and customers regarding maintenance, scheduling, and service updates.

Work on-call as needed and respond to emergency callouts during designated on-call periods.

Perform manual labor tasks, including lifting, moving, and handling tools, equipment, and materials.

Follow up with administrative staff regarding maintenance tasks to ensure completion and accurate documentation.

Complete assigned jobs within reasonable, efficient timeframes while meeting quality standards.

Perform all tasks to company standards, following established procedures and safety practices.

Keep the work vehicle clean, organized, and stocked with necessary tools and supplies.

Treat all company gear, tools, vehicles, and equipment with care to maximize longevity and reliability.

Cultivate strong working relationships with technicians and customers, contributing to a positive team environment.

Respond to emails promptly and professionally to maintain effective communication and workflow.

Demonstrate respect in the workplace and collaborate effectively with others.

Answer phone calls after hours during on-call periods when required.

Exercise sound judgment in deciding when to act independently and when to seek assistance or guidance.

Complete daily job completion notes in Service Fusion to ensure accurate service records and documentation.

Update ADP daily for payroll tracking, time reporting, and accurate record-keeping.

Apply proven experience in health and safety practices to support a safe work environment.

Maintain knowledge of local safety regulations and best practices and apply them in daily operations.

Participate in or support safety training and awareness programs for staff.

Assist with incident investigation and reporting to help prevent future occurrences and improve safety.
**Essential Skills**
2 years of maintenance experience working with equipment, machinery, or automotive systems.

Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on handyman skills for repairs and maintenance.





Valid driver's license with the ability to drive trucks and trailers safely.

Ability to perform mechanical maintenance repairs such as changing tires and replacing lights.

Comfort operating heavy equipment including excavators, skid steers, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and dump trailers.

Experience in maintenance technician or mechanical repair roles, including shop or tool crib environments.

Organized, clean, and tidy work habits, especially when managing warehouse equipment and fleet assets.

Ability to work on-call and respond to emergency callouts when required.

Strong communication skills for interacting with administrative staff, technicians, and customers.

Ability to maintain professional, respectful conduct and work well with others.

Capability to perform manual labor tasks, including lifting and moving equipment and materials.

Proven experience in health and safety roles, including familiarity with local safety regulations and best practices.

Experience with safety training and awareness initiatives, incident investigation, and reporting.

Ability to use systems such as Service Fusion for job completion notes and ADP for daily payroll tracking.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Automotive repair or automotive mechanic exp.

Experience working in a tool repair shop or similar environment.

Red Seal Plumber designation or plumbing experience is an asset.

Experience managing a shop, warehouse, or tool crib.

Comfort assisting on plumbing service calls as a support technician.

Ability to prioritize tasks and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high service standards.

**Work Environment**
This position is based locally at a warehouse in Burnaby, working primarily in the shop setting.

The typical schedule is an 8-hour day, starting between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. and finishing around 4:00 p.m., with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch.

You will work in and around the warehouse, shop, and yard, regularly handling tools, vehicles, and heavy equipment such as excavators, skid steers, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and dump trailers.

The role involves both indoor and outdoor work, driving trucks and trailers, and visiting mechanics or job sites as needed.

The environment emphasizes organization, cleanliness, and safety, with a practical, hands-on dress code suited to mechanical maintenance, manual labor, and equipment operation.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Permanent position based out of Burnaby, BC.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $85000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity,



and other pertinent job-related factors.
