Insight Global's client, located in Alcobendas, Spain, is seeking a Senior Back-End Engineer to design, develop, and support scalable backend services that power payment processing, multi-currency account management, onboarding, compliance workflows, settlement functions, and related platform capabilities.

This individual will own technical solutions from architecture and API design through implementation, deployment, monitoring, and production support.

The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with product, compliance, operations, architects, and engineering leadership to deliver business-critical functionality while helping modernize existing systems and services.

This position requires strong technical leadership, hands-on engineering expertise, cloud experience, and the ability to mentor engineers and influence architectural decisions.

Responsibilities
Design and own backend services supporting payments, onboarding, KYC, KYB, foreign exchange, settlement, and related financial platform functions.

Lead technical delivery efforts from initial requirements and solution design through deployment and production support.

Develop and maintain partner integrations and settlement infrastructure that support critical business operations.

Own service reliability, observability, monitoring, incident response, and operational excellence within assigned domains.

Lead architecture discussions, design reviews, and technical decision-making initiatives.

Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineers through code reviews and best-practice development standards.

Partner with product, compliance, operations, and engineering stakeholders to deliver scalable and compliant solutions.





Utilize AI-assisted development tools throughout the software development lifecycle to improve productivity, testing, and delivery outcomes.

Contribute to modernization initiatives and migration efforts involving legacy applications and platform services.

Skills and Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.





Six or more years of experience building and supporting production-grade backend applications.

Strong experience with C# and .NET, with alternative object-oriented language experience in Java, Kotlin, or Go also considered.

Solid understanding of SQL and relational database design principles.

Experience writing, maintaining, and supporting automated tests.

Daily experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools such as Git

Hub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar technologies.

Hands-on experience deploying and supporting applications within AWS cloud environments.

Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and modern cloud deployment practices.

Knowledge of AWS services including SQS, DynamoDB, S3, ECS, and Lambda.

Robust understanding of microservices, distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and system design concepts.

Experience working within payments, foreign exchange, fintech, banking, or other regulated industries.

Demonstrated technical leadership experience including mentoring engineers, leading design reviews, and driving architecture decisions.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Experience working with ledger systems, double-entry accounting platforms, or financial transaction processing systems.

Experience leading application modernization efforts or large-scale platform migrations.

Knowledge of caching technologies such as Redis or Memcached.

Experience using Jira, Confluence, and related collaboration tools.

Experience utilizing API testing tools such as Postman or Bruno.

Experience supporting hiring, interviewing, or onboarding efforts for engineering teams.

Experience incorporating AI-assisted testing, automation, and software development practices into daily workflows.
