GE Vernova is seeking a Senior Welding Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of welding processes for both existing and new products within a highly regulated engineering environment.
Key responsibilities include:
• Develop welding design specifications, procedures, and manufacturing processes.
• Perform metallurgical analysis and evaluate weld performance.
• Support weld joint design and manufacturability reviews.
• Troubleshoot welding-related production issues and drive corrective actions.
• Provide technical oversight to fabricators and support supplier assessments.
• Lead welding projects, resource planning, and schedule management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Mechanical Design, Sourcing, Project Management, and Engineering Leadership.
• Support innovation efforts through invention disclosures and technical documentation.

Skills and Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related discipline.
• 8+ years of engineering experience in a welding/manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience with austenitic stainless steel welding metallurgy and weldment analysis.
• Hands-on expertise with:
○ GTAW (TIG Welding)
○ Resistance Welding
• Working knowledge of:
○ ASME BPVC Section III Division 1
○ ASME Section IX
○ AWS A2.4 & A3.0
• Experience developing welding processes, procedures, and specifications for manufactured components.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot welding issues and implement corrective actions.
• Experience leading technical teams, coordinating resources, and managing project schedules.
• Solid communication skills with the ability to interface with engineers, project managers, sourcing teams, fabricators, and leadership. • Experience within the nuclear industry (BWR, PWR, SMR, or related nuclear applications).
• Knowledge of welding metallurgy for:
○ Carbon steels
○ Low-alloy steels
○ Nickel alloys
○ Zirconium
○ Aluminium alloys
• Familiarity with additional welding processes:
○ GMAW (MIG)
○ FCAW
○ SMAW (Stick)
○ LBW (Laser Beam Welding)
• Knowledge of:
○ ASME Section III Division V
○ ASME Section VIII Division 1
○ AWS D1.1 & D1.6
• GD&T; (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) experience.
• Prior experience supporting nuclear component manufacturing, fuel fabrication, plant services, or new reactor design initiatives.
