Overview:

Under general supervision of the Supervisor, Salvage Operations, the Condition Report Writer markets all total loss units published in the online global salvage disposal site, through Impact Auto Auctions.

The Condition Report Writer markets all salvage units with the intent of maximizing revenue, which is credited back to the original claim file. The Condition Report writer is responsible for the accuracy and completion of the condition report, which is used by salvage buyers to make buying decisions. The position performs condition report writing of all units, assists with preparing for the auction process, and performs general clean up duties. The Condition Report Writer is responsible for accurately entering, confirming and maintaining data in the VISion application and is responsible for the length of time a salvage item remains in the compound.

Responsibilities:

- Based on established criteria, determines the type of conditioning required for each vehicle.
- Takes and uploads 11 HD High Quality Marketing photographs for the purpose of Salvage Sales; includes re-takes.
- Takes and uploads 360 Interior/Exterior video on vehicles as indicated by Management.
- Confirms and updates vehicle information using a Honeywell Device; Engine, Transmission, Upselling Features and general condition.
- Boosts vehicles to obtain mileage and odometer photo.
- Cleans the inside of vehicles, removing all personal items, debris/parts and garbage. Responsible for proper storage and or/disposal of debris, personal items and garbage, while ensuring parts of value are placed back into vehicle.
- Performs vehicle detailing and cleaning in efforts to increase salvage value.
- Confirms keys and secures to the vehicle.
- Performs ‘engine starts’ and ‘run and drive’ testing in accordance with work place health and safety safe work procedures and qualifying factors.
- Maintains the cleanliness of the Condition Report Area; this includes cleaning debris and garbage accordingly.




- Takes inventory and properly maintains and cares for Condition Reporting Equipment; tools, supplies etc. Is responsible for own work area along with tools and supplies.
- Ensures vehicle and stock information is written on vehicle windows, removing snow and ice so information is visible.
- Ensures the vehicle is secured from the elements; using plastic wrap and coverings to eliminate and/or minimize further damage to vehicle.
- Enters and maintains data in the VISion Application.
- Responsible for the length of time an item remains in the salvage inventory and supports a reduced cycle time for all inventory at the Physical Damage Compound.
- Performs yard maintenance e.g. snow removal, salvage debris clean up, etc as required.
- Performs various salvage audits as required.

Qualifications:

Education:

- High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

- Two years of customer service experience, including one year in a car detailing or automotive workplace.

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

- Working knowledge of applicable office software (i.e. MS Word, Excel).
- Ability to use a smart phone and/or smart phone devices, ability to take photos with this device
- Ability to maintain a professional balance between customer and organizational needs.
- Oral communication skills with the ability to convey information in a straightforward manner.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate related equipment.

Conditions of Employment:

- Candidate must have a valid class 5 driver’s licence.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 70 lbs. (32 kg.) Testing may be required to demonstrate ability.
- Must be physically able to perform the duties required.
