Position Overview
Our client in southwestern Ontario is seeking an Interim Director of Finance to step into a critical leadership role and provide hands-on financial and accounting support during a period of transition. This individual will be a strong manager who is comfortable getting into the details, executing the work directly, and elevating the performance of the existing team.
The ideal candidate will bring a combination of solid leadership, deep accounting knowledge, and the ability to operate effectively in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment. This role requires someone who can both inspire and empower the team while also rolling up their sleeves to ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on time. This working arrangement is onsite 5 days weekly.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day leadership for the finance and accounting function across multiple global entities.
- Manage and develop a team of 4 direct reports.
- Lead from the front with a hands-on approach, stepping into the weeds as needed to drive execution.
- Support accounting operations across 6 global entities.
- Oversee multi-entity consolidations and cost center roll-ups.
- Ensure a timely and accurate month-end close.
- Help stabilize and improve close processes ahead of Q3 close and in preparation for year-end.
- Bring structure and clarity to an environment with evolving priorities and ambiguity.
- Partner with senior leadership, including opportunities to support international coordination.
Qualifications
- Designated CPA and/or equivalent.
- Proven experience in an Interim Director of Finance, Director of Finance, or similar senior accounting/finance leadership role.
- Strong background in multi-entity accounting and consolidations.
- Deep expertise in accounting operations, month-end close, and financial reporting.
- Experience within manufacturing and inventory environments strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively while remaining highly hands-on.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving results in evolving environments.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to challenge, coach, inspire, and empower team members.
- Experience supporting global entities is required.
