About the Client:

We're seeking a warm, engaging companion for a wonderful woman living at Shalom Village in West Hamilton. She has good cognitive function, stays current with the news, and can hold meaningful conversations, but she experiences short-term memory challenges and may repeat herself during visits. She uses a walker for mobility within her room but cannot navigate the long hallways independently or access outdoor spaces without assistance. While the facility provides excellent physical care, she feels isolated as most other residents cannot engage in coherent conversation. She's looking for genuine companionship and someone to help her get outside and enjoy fresh air.

Responsibilities:

- Provide engaging companionship and lead conversations on various topics (current events, travel, personal interests)
- Assist with mobility using a transport chair to navigate hallways and access the elevator
- Take the client outside to the courtyard, managing the transition over small lips and uneven surfaces
- Speak clearly in a slightly louder than normal voice while maintaining direct eye contact
- Bring positive energy and help combat loneliness through meaningful social interaction
- No personal care, bathing, dressing, or feeding required - this is purely a companion role

What We're Looking For:

- Outgoing personality with strong conversational skills and ability to lead discussions




- Transparent speaker without a strong accent, able to project voice appropriately
- Patient and comfortable with memory challenges and repetition
- Physically capable of pushing a transport chair and assisting with mobility
- Warm presence that makes the client feel comfortable
- Reliable, consistent, and brings positive energy to every visit
- Experience with seniors and mobility devices preferred
- English speaking required

Schedule:

Two visits per week, three hours each visit, ideally Friday and Sunday from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. The timing avoids the lunch period and provides optimal afternoon companionship when the client is most alert and engaged.

Additional Considerations
