Who we are searching for:

We are looking to add a Fire Protection Design Manager, who shares the above core values, to our work family. With support from our robust internal training program and existing team, you will lead a team of design professionals in the design of fire protection systems, and also periodically assist operations as required by conducting periodic site surveys and field inspections at ongoing projects across Ontario and elsewhere in Canada. You will work primarily from your home office, but as noted above, this role will require occasional travel to our head office in St. Thomas, ON and possibly throughout Ontario and Canada for both work and training.

What you will work on:

- Manage the design team and all aspects of the design process to ensure projects are being completed efficiently and successfully per company standard operating procedures;
- Plan and coordinate resources to meet design deliverable timelines and schedules. Communicate requirements in team meetings and other forums;
- Provide technical support, value-added and constructability design evaluation, mentorship and continual developmental coaching to all team members;
- You will attend virtual coordination meetings as required by each specific project and communicate project status and design challenges to all project stakeholders;
- Work closely with all stakeholders, including the PFC team, fire protection contractors, general contractors, architects, consultants, building owners, local building officials, and fire inspectors to ensure the continued success of all projects;
- Manage PFC's Standard Operating Procedures and Technical Standards;




- Manage PFC’s training and development programs;
- Using HydraCAD (for AutoCAD and / or Revit) and HydraCALC, you will design fire protection systems per project and code requirements, along with company and industry standards;
- You may periodically conduct pre-design site surveys to both gather information and examine the condition of existing systems for design specifications, drawings, and calculations;
- Conduct performance reviews and interviews for current and new team members; and
- Depending on your experience and current abilities, you may be tasked with other duties as appropriate.

What you need to bring:

- Core values that align with those listed above;
- A "Tenacity" working genius, as well as "Galvanizing" and "Enablement" working geniuses or working competencies (see above);
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (fire protection, mechanical, or construction);
- Experience in the construction industry;
- Experience in a management and / or supervisory role;
- An ability to read and interpret technical documents from all construction disciplines;
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and / or Revit, as well as Microsoft Office, and Google Drive / Sheets;
- A proven ability to prioritize, problem solve, be organized, and communicate clearly in a dynamic working environment;
- A proven ability to work successfully in both a remote and team environment; the fire protection industry is fast paced, therefore the ability to meet deadlines while working remotely is critical;
- The ability to travel periodically to jobsites throughout Ontario and Canada; and
- A valid drivers license.

The following items are not required, but are strong assets:

- Previous design and / or engineering experience in fire protection;
- A knowledge and understanding of NFPA 13, NFPA 13R, NFPA 13D, NFPA 14, NFPA 20, NFPA 30, NFPA 33, as well as the NBC / OBC and NFC / OFC; and
- Proficient in the use of HydraCAD, HydraCALC, and Bluebeam;
