Project Manager — Industrial / Structural Steel & PEMB

Colony Construction is growing into larger industrial and heavy industrial work across Canada, and we’re looking for an experienced Project Manager who knows structural steel and PEMB construction and wants broader ownership of the projects they manage.

This is a hands-on PM role: You’ll own the commercial and execution side of your projects from award through closeout — budget, schedule, procurement, subcontractors, client communication, change management and field coordination.

You won’t be several layers removed from the work or the decisions. You’ll work closely with the people running the business, the Superintendent and the project team, and you’ll be expected to make decisions, solve problems and keep the project moving.

For a PM coming from a structural steel or PEMB contractor, this can be a chance to step into broader GC / Prime Contractor responsibility.

For someone already managing projects with a larger General Contractor, it offers more autonomy, more direct access to leadership and a bigger say in how the work gets delivered.

What You’ll Own

- Projects from award through construction, turnover and closeout
- Budget, forecasting and overall financial performance
- Project schedules, milestones and delivery
- Structural steel, PEMB and supporting trade scopes
- Subcontractors, suppliers and consultants
- Procurement and material requirements
- Drawings, specifications, shop drawings, RFIs and submittals
- Change orders, contracts and purchase orders
- Client communication and project meetings
- Coordination with Superintendents and field teams
- Project risks, deficiencies and outstanding items




- Resolving issues before they affect cost, schedule or delivery

The Background We’re Looking For

This role is for someone who already brings strong project management experience and direct structural steel and/or PEMB exposure.

The strongest candidates will have:

- Project Manager experience with a General Contractor / Prime Contractor, PEMB builder or structural steel contractor
- Direct responsibility for structural steel and/or pre-engineered metal building scopes
- Industrial or heavy industrial construction experience
- Meaningful project ownership from award through closeout
- Budget and schedule accountability
- Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and consultants
- Strong understanding of drawings, specifications and construction documentation
- Procurement, contract and change management experience
- The ability to work independently and make sound decisions
- Robust communication with clients, field teams and project partners

Experience coordinating civil, concrete, mechanical or electrical scopes is also valuable.

Travel & Site Assignments

Some projects require full-time site assignments on a 14 days on / 7 days off rotation, sometimes for an extended period.

Candidates need to be fully comfortable taking on rotational assignments when the project requires it.

Additional compensation is provided for rotational work.

Other projects may involve remote work with regular travel or time on site as needed.

Candidates based in British Columbia, Alberta or Saskatchewan will be considered.

Pay: $125,000.00-$140,000.00 per year
