Integrative Naturopathic Medical Centre (INMC) is a successful multidisciplinary complimentary health centre.
We are currently seeking a certified Phlebotomist to fill a long-term, full-time position in our laboratory. This position will provide 35-40 hours per week, with holiday coverage required as needed.
We are looking for an empathetic, adaptable, and patient-focused individual who can deliver exceptional customer service and build rapport with patients, even in stressful situations. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong communication skills, professionalism, and a commitment to providing a positive patient experience.
Please note that this position requires the ability to work two (2) Saturdays per month as part of the regular schedule.
The position offers a three-month training period at $29.00 per hour, after which the hourly rate will increase to $30.00-$33.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and performance.
Required Skills:
- Phlebotomy certification
- Previous related experience – minimum 1 year
- Experience with use of ports, catheters, and butterflies.
- Experience with IV preparation, delivery, and monitoring.
- Knowledge of specimen collection requirements.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal well with patients.
- Ability to work in a high volume setting, multi-tasker, with high attention to details.
- Problem solving skills and the ability to think quickly on your feet.
- The ability to maintain the strictest standards of patient safety, privacy and confidentiality.
Job Description:
- Perform venipuncture using catheter and butterfly.
- Monitor patients while on IV infusions,
prioritizing patient safety.
- Proper documentation of lab procedures and progress notes.
- Assures high quality of patient care by adhering to the standards of practice and following the Integrative Clinic Protocols.
- Contributes to team effort by maintaining a cooperative relationship among healthcare teams by communicating information; responding to requests; and participating in team-problem solving methods.
- Inventory and ordering of laboratory supplies and test kits.
- Demonstrate knowledge of specimen handling, storage and shipping requirements.
- Responsible for carrying out a diverse range of work activities in the lab; ensuring all duties and responsibilities are prioritized and handled safely and efficiently while providing quality results.
- Ensures operation of lab equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; and maintaining equipment inventories.
- Ensure biohazard waste/sharps are handled in compliance with Setting, Health and Safety procedures.
